Galata Kulesi

Kendine özgü koni biçimindeki tepesiyle 62 metre yüksekliğindeki Galata Kulesi, 1348 yılında Cenevizliler tarafından savunma amacıyla inşa edilmiş ve Osmanlılar zamanında yangın gözetleme kulesi olarak kullanılmış.

Sekizinci ve dokuzuncu katlarındaki kuleyi çepeçevre saran balkonundan bütün şehri seyredebilirsiniz. Balkondan görülen ve İstanbul'un en önemli anıdan içine alan panoramik manzarayı bir kez görmek için bile yukarı çıkmaya değer. Üst kata asansörle çıkabileceğiniz gibi nostaljik dar merdivenleri de kullanabilirsiniz.

Galata Tower which has a height of 62 m and­an original cone shape peak was built by Genovese for fortification in 1348 and was used by Ottomans as a fire tower. You can view all over the city from the balconies all around the tower at 8th and 9th floors. It worths ascending to see the panoramic view that contains the most important monuments of istanbul from the balcony, even for once. You can go upstairs using the ekvator or the narrow stairs.

 Hendek Caddesi (Galata) There is a cafe-restaurant on the 8th floor of the tovver.

Çemberlitaş

Çemberlitaş, İstanbul'daki en eski yapı. 330'da Bizans'ın, Roma İmparatorluğu'nun başkenti ilan edilmesi üzerine, imparator Konstantin tarafından yaptırılmış, o zamanlar Konstantin Forumu'nun tam ortasında yer alıyormuş. Ucunda eskiden imparatorun Güneş Tanrısı Helios biçiminde bir heykeli varmış Adını gövdesini saran demir çemberlerden alıyor.

Cemberlitas is the oldest column in istanbul. Constantine the Great built due to declaration of Byzantium as the capital of Roman Empire. At time it was right in the middle of Constantine's Forum. In the past there was a statue in the shape of God of Sun, Helios, of the emperor at the top. It takes its name from the iron bands around its body.
